Giveaways! This time? New flooring!

flooring

Who doesn’t like giveaways? Nobody, that’s who. Everyone likes to win free stuff, and we love to give away free prizes throughout the year.

We went a little wild with the giveaways during the summer of 2012 with dozens of concert tickets, courtesy of Live Nation Entertainment. We also gave away free hotel rooms in conjunction with Courtyard  by Marriott. Rifles. Tires. Generators. Quite a bit of cash. There’s not much that we won’t give away to our readers.

Right now we’ve got another sweepstakes in the works: Paper Shop and Giant Floor will be giving away $2000 worth of free flooring. Whether it’s laminate, hardwood or any other kind of new flooring, we’re ready to help you get your home improvement remodeling started!

It’s free and easy to win: just fill out the coupon in every issue of Paper Shop. Or “Like” us on Facebook. Or purchase on online subscription. When you do any of these, you’re automatically entered to win.

Recycling? Eco-friendly? We’re on it!

logo

Sorry, Kermit, but it is rather easy to be green. We do our best to care for the environment every week – and in a couple of different ways, too.

When you think about it, our entire mission is rather eco-friendly: we provide a platform for people to buy and sell their used items. Without items to reuse, repurpose and recycle, we’d hardly have much of a function. Reused materials are our stock in trade! It’s certainly safe to say we know a little about recycling.

Here’s something you might not know, though: not only do we recycle used copies of Paper Shop, we also print every copy on paper from mills with FSC certification. In other words, our newsprint paper suppliers are certifiably green.

Recycling – it’s what we do!

Calling all (vintage) cars!

antiquecarcrop

There are used cars. And then there are used cars of the antique sort. Our Antique Autos & Parts category is one of our hottest sections, including everything from vintage cars to antique truck parts. Some of the cars are long-term projects while others are classic muscle cars for sale, all ready to show.

The thing about antique vehicles is that specific vehicles often have their own die-hard following. So one collector my be on the hunt for, say, antique Ford hubcaps while another couldn’t be bothered with anything other than Dodge pickup parts. It’s no surprise, then, that Antique Autos is the category most likely to contain a “Wanted to Buy” ad. We also encourage collectors to call us on the air during our weekly broadcast of Paper Shop Live! to tell us about what old cars (or even parts of old cars) they’d love to find.

Online Advertising

PSlogo

When we launched our new and improved website late last week, it was a really exciting day for us. We’d listened to our advertisers and readers and tried to create a website to more readily suit their online advertising needs.

If you take a look, you’ll see some changes, most notably that each ad that has a photo carries a thumbnail image to the left of it, and when you click on that ad, it’s given its own page where you can more easily check out up to four photos of the item.

We’ve spent some time, too, on accommodating our online business advertisers – tweaking both our methods of online display advertising and even banner advertising. If you’re interested in business advertising with us (whether website advertising, print ads, or a comprehensive package including both), give us a call at 1-800-537-9377. We’re happy to address your inquiries and we’ll never pressure you.

And don’t forget that we always want to know what you think! Call us. Tweet. Message us on Facebook. We’re not only all ads, we’re all ears!

Putting on our New Year’s hats!

partyhats

It’s already December 27th, so we can imagine that you’re well in the midst of New Year’s party ideas. Or perhaps you’re even thinking ahead and pondering quick weight loss (yikes!) or, more sensibly, thinking about healthy eating habits and perhaps using that home exercise equipment. Maybe it’s the year that you’ll finally get organized and tackle that garage, hall closet or pantry.

No matter how you slice it, the approaching new year is quite a motivator, huh?

Whether you’re cleaning house and have items to sell or you’ve decided that this is the year to get fit, keep us in mind. Pick up our newest issue on January 2, check us out on thepapershop.com or listen to Paper Shop Live! at 8am every Saturday on NEPA’s ESPN radio network: 96.1 & 100.1FM or 630 & 1240AM

Snowstorm? Accumulation? Snow problem!

snowflake

For most of the folks in our distribution area it was a white Christmas. And as nice as that can be, it’s looking like Monday’s snow was just a taste of things to come.

If you’re like us, you’re a frequent checker of the forecast and road conditions. If you’re a person who likes to be prepared, you’ve probably already got the snow tires on the car and the snow blower at the ready! And if you happen to be among the less-prepared out there, no worries: we’ve got snowplows for sale, snow tires, snow chains for tires and all types of snow equipment.

The nice thing about buying from Paper Shop is that it’s local people selling, so there’s a good chance that you’ll see a Meyer plow or a set of Blizzak snow tires, make a call and very possibly be the owner of said plow or tires within mere hours. If you want to make it really easy, just type in “snow” on thepapershop.com and see for yourself what we’ve got to offer.

Hot gifts? Hot buys!

giftcrop

Furby. Rubik’s Cube. Wii. Every year’s got a few of them: the hottest and most wanted gifts for the holidays. Run a Google search for “hottest gifts of 2012″ (or even take an informal survey of people you know) and we’re willing to bet you’ll hear about Keurig coffee machines, Sodastream soda makers, Kindle HD’s (along with Kindle accessories) and more than a few Leapfrogs.

Here’s the thing, savvy shopper: every year, some of these most-wanteds will show up with us, very often unused and even unopened! It could be that it was a present that just didn’t suit the recipient. Or maybe a duplicate gift. Either way, if you’re craving a Keurig or sad over your lack of Sodastream, check with us. You just might get the steal of the year!

Good things come in small businesses!

PSlogo

… and we should know – we’re a small business ourselves!

We’re known for our free classified ads, but we also specialize in local business advertising. Most of the businesses you’ll see on our pages or on our website are small ones; we’re keenly aware of the needs of these companies and we’re small enough to give them the personal attention they need and deserve.

On the flip side of the coin, we also list a number of small businesses for sale, too! From coffee kiosks to chimney cleaning services to snow removal routes, you can find any number of opportunities if you’re thinking of starting your own small business.

On The Air

radio microphone

It might be a retiring Santa selling his homemade red suit just in time for Christmas. Or maybe a newly-minted hobby blacksmith on the hunt for an anvil. It’s pretty amazing, really, to think of some of the interesting people we talk to on air during Paper Shop Live! every Saturday. When we open up the phone lines on each show, we never know what we’re going to get; to be honest, though, that’s the fun of the whole thing.

This Saturday, December 22, will be our 27th broadcast. Join us as we take over the airwaves between 8 & 9 AM. Better yet, call us! Tell us what you’d like to sell or maybe even about something you’re looking to buy. There’s no charge to do it, and we’ll also post the information on thepapershop.com for a week to help you find a seller or buyer.

Tune in! Saturday, 8am on NEPA’s ESPN radio network: 96.1 & 100.1FM or 630 & 1240AM
