They say that less is more, and in some cases it’s certainly true. We’re happy to take your straightforward, pared-down ad. In fact, all you really need to do is tell us what you’re selling and include a price and phone number.

But sometimes the devil is in the details, and you need to include specific facts about the item. And sometimes you just feel like it takes a little more information for people to truly appreciate your item. We get that.

Commission ads have a limit of 30 words. We’re more than happy to work with you to fit everything you’d like to say into your ad; each of our representatives has years of experience getting your description into those 30 words. If you’d like to get wordier, we can help with that, too. It’s just $2 for every 10 words over 30.

In 30 minutes, you could burn around 120 calories playing Frisbee. If you were a cheetah, you could run about 30 miles. We’re not ones to boast about our Frisbee or cheetah skills (because, well, they’re non-existent), but we do manage to do some pretty impressive stuff in half an hour!

When you place an ad with us, we get that ad posted on thepapershop.com within 30 minutes of receipt. Whether you get that ad to us over the phone or by using our website, we really get cracking on it and get it out there as soon as possible. And if you consider that a large percentage of the items that are sold are done so by the online ads, our speed is pretty darn important. Don’t forget, too, that any updates or additions also appear within 30 minutes.

It’s funny how you get when you’re missing something, especially when it’s something very specific. If you’re a collector, you know the feeling well; in fact, hunting down those hard-to-find parts of the collection is a huge part of the fun. If nothing else, the internet has taught us that whatever strange or unusual collection you might be working on, there are others with the same yen.

Did you ever consider using the airwaves to find that item? You could reach a rather wide audience on Paper Shop Live!, and – best of all – it costs nothing. FAQ: How do I report an item sold?

Questions. We love ‘em. When somebody has a question for us here at Paper Shop, we know that they’re either already advertising with us or thinking of giving us a try. We’re happy to help with and all inquiries, and we’ve found that a number of them are, well, frequently asked questions. Here’s where we take some time to talk about them.

You’ve sold your item! Congrats! Now what?

It’s pretty easy to let us know that you’ve had a sale and that you no longer need to run the ad. The most common way to let us know is to give our office a call at 1-800-537-9377 and bring us up to speed. We’ll stop the ad so that you won’t continue to get phone calls on it, and we can make payment arrangements. We’re happy to send you a bill in the mail or you’re welcome to pay over the phone with a credit or debit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard & Discover.

You can also report the sale on thepapershop.com. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll see an option to “Report an Item Sold”. Click on that option and let us know exactly what you’ve sold. A bill will automatically be generated and mailed to you.

Office

See us in our natural habitat!

Of course, that sounds far more exciting than it really is. You won’t see the exotic settings that you’d find on wildlife programs, but what you will find is a small office full of folks who are ready to help you.

We welcome you to stop by to place an ad, report a sale, pay a bill or even just pick up a fresh copy of Paper Shop. If you need photos taken of an item you’d like to sell, we’re ready to help you with that. Whenever we’ve got a giveaway in the works, you’re welcome to fill out an entry form while you’re here, too.

We’re here from 8 am until 6 pm on Monday through Thursday and from 8 am until 5 pm on Fridays. You can find us at 330 Montage Mountain Road in Moosic; we’re just past PNC field and to your right.

The Final Countdown

If you’ve now got the riff from that old ’80s tune in your head … well, you’re welcome! We could think of no better way to usher in both the last Friday of April and the deadline for the May 1st issue.

Just as we do every Friday, we’ll spend the morning putting the final touches on the next issue of Paper Shop and at 11 am, the magic will happen once again: we’ll send that issue to print.

Keep in mind, though, that every ad we get appears on thepapershop.com within 30 minutes of us receiving it. Even if you miss the deadline for next Wednesday’s issue, your ad will be online for the world to see.

Get Real (Estate)

Take it to the max. Because the max is only $70. And when it’s real estate that you’re selling, $70 is a very square deal.

As you may already know, the commission due when an item sells is based on the printed asking price. The maximum commission we charge is $70 – anything with an asking price of $2100 or more would carry that max commission and nothing more. So if you’re selling that lakeside cottage for $20,000? The commission’s $70. If you have Commercial or warehouse property for $429,000? $70. Impressive acreage for $2,000,000? Still $70.

Happy Earth Day to you!

What began in 1970 as an effort to spur green legislation and to get the public involved in environmental awareness has turned into a pretty widely celebrated holiday. And we love it! When you think about it, recycling, reusing & repurposing  has been our stock in trade for 45 years.

It’s not just the items we help you sell, either: we recycle unused issues of Paper Shop. We also print every edition on paper from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-approved paper mills.
