Earth Day

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day to you!

What began in 1970 as an effort to spur green legislation and to get the public involved in environmental awareness has turned into a pretty widely celebrated holiday. And we love it! When you think about it, recycling, reusing & repurposing  has been our stock in trade for 45 years.

It’s not just the items we help you sell, either: we recycle unused issues of Paper Shop. We also print every edition on paper from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-approved paper mills.

Good things come in small businesses.

We know this for sure. Not only are we a small, independently-owned business, most of our business advertisers are, too.

If you’d like some help minding your business, we’d love to work with you. We’d be happy to quote you a price on display advertising or even fax or email our rates to you so that you’re able to look them over on your own time and get back to us when you’re ready. We’ll never pressure you, so if you’re even just thinking of advertising with us, give us a call at 1-800-537-9377 to see that we can do for you!

The Classics

Corvette

Cars, that is.

If you’re a lover of the vintage & the antique, we’re willing to bet you’re a frequent reader of our Antique Autos & Parts category. From a 1923 Ford Model T pickup to a 1976 Corvette Stingray, we’ve got a pretty impressive selection of classic cars, all for sale.

While we do love taking a peek at any photos that are submitted for these rides, we’re no car show judges. Because of this, we’ve got a pretty standard rule to determine whether a car goes into the Antique Autos category or into Domestic or Foreign Autos: if the car is 25 years old or older, it’s an antique*.

*Never fear! We don’t hold people to the same standard. Why, if you’re 25 or older, we think you’re just coming into your prime. After all, at 44 years, we certainly are!

Call of Duty …

radio microphone

… okay, maybe not duty. But certainly opportunity!

We like free. And from what we hear, so do you. We offer free advertisements, free photos, free giveaways, all kinds of free stuff – but did you know that we also give you the chance to drum up some attention for what you’re selling? And that the opportunity is, like so much else with us, completely free?

Call Paper Shop Live!, place your ad on air and we’ll get the word out on the local ESPN radio stations while also posting your items on thepapershop.com for the better part of a week. It’s free to place that ad, and it’ll cost you nothing if you sell the item that you advertised during the broadcast.

Not only is it free, it’s also easy to do. When you call the show, you’ll be talking to either Kim or Jen (me). We’ll take the information about the ad, maybe ask you some questions about it, and help you showcase your item to its best advantage. We’ve both been helping folks with ads for years, and we’re there to lend our expertise to callers while making the whole thing easy and fun.

Make that Saturday morning a productive one! Give Paper Shop Live! a call between 9-10 am and let us show you what we can do: 1-888-303-0630

(Remember, too, that we’ll be welcoming your tweets during the show tomorrow. Got a question about an ad you’re hearing? Tweet it and we’ll ask it.)

… and we should know – we’re a small business ourselves!

We’re known for our free classified ads, but we also specialize in local business advertising. Most of the businesses you’ll see on our pages or on our website are small ones; we’re keenly aware of the needs of these companies and we’re small enough to give them the personal attention they need and deserve.

On the flip side of the coin, we also list a number of small businesses for sale, too! From coffee kiosks to chimney cleaning services to snow removal routes, you can find any number of opportunities if you’re thinking of starting your own small business.

Hot Wheels

Firebird2

Ask around and you’re likely to find that most people you know found a car through Paper Shop.

Perhaps it was that first car: often short on bells & whistles, but generally pretty affordable. Sometimes it’s a car just for commuting. Or maybe a rough service 4×4 just for winter. Either way, we’re NEPA’s premier source to find used (and new) vehicles. We’ve got lots of experience, since we’ve been doing this for nearly 45 years!

Let’s put that 45 years into perspective.

'68 Firebird

Here’s a car that matches us in years: it’s a ’68 Pontiac Firebird. In fact, we’ve currently got it listed for sale. Pretty sweet, huh? It’ll go into print for the January 2, 2013 issue, but you can find it on thepapershop.com in our Antique Autos category (hint: type ’68 Pontiac Firebird into the Keyword Search field).
