Anniversary

1st anniversary

Par-tay!

We could fire up the Anniversary Waltz and prepare ourselves for the traditional gift of paper, but you know us … and you know we’ve got our own way of doing things. Besides, we’ve already got paper galore. So instead, we’re going to be spending our first anniversary on the air. And all the gifting will be from us and from a number of our generous advertisers.

May 25th marks the one year anniversary of Paper Shop Live! and we certainly hope you’ll join us for the celebration. We’ll be on the air at our usual 9 AM time slot  on NEPA’s ESPN radio network. We’ve already got a number of pretty impressive giveaways lined up, and we’ll keep adding to that number as we get closer to the big day. Keep up with us on Facebook, Twitter & Google+ as we roll out an exciting roster of prizes.

As always, we welcome you to call the show with your ads, your questions or even to wish us a happy anniversary: 1-888-303-0630.

On Time

spacetime

Stop. Pause. Rewind. Tinker with the space-time continuum (well, sort of).

If you miss a Saturday morning broadcast of Paper Shop Live!, there’s always the not-so-live version: the podcast. It’s not only a chance to catch up if you missed the show, it’s also a great way to get any details or contact information you might have missed on items of interest.

You can always find a link to the podcast on our website. In addition, we post links to hear the replay on Facebook, Twitter & Google+.

Run with it.

5K

Nothing makes us happier than running your ads. But we’re also delighted to run your runs. And rummage sales. And golf tournaments.

Best of all? We do it for free.

We pride ourselves on being a small local business, and we’re also proud of the folks who live and work in our area. That’s why we gladly feature the non-profit events of local fire companies, schools, churches, and other organizations. If you give us the details about what you’ve got in the works, we’ll not only post it on our Non-Profit Events page, we’ll also do our very best to give it a mention on our Facebook, Twitter & Google+ feeds in order to help you get the largest possible audience for your happening.

It’s pretty easy to let us know what’s going on, too. You’ll find an entry form on thepapershop.com. Simply fill it out, submit it, and we’ll do the rest.

Getting Social

facebook

We are rather social beasts here at Paper Shop. We’re not only here on the phones Monday through Friday to take your ads and answer your questions, we’re also available on Facebook, Twitter & Google+. Don’t hesitate to comment, tweet or even message us – we’ve got a longtime Paper Shop employee manning the switches here, and we’re happy to help!

We also welcome you to help us shape this very blog. While we try to be informative & entertaining, it’s possible that there might be questions you have or even just random information you’d like to know. Feel free to contact me via email at jenk@thepapershop.com and tell me what you’re thinking.

We’re not only all ads, we’re all ears. Talk to us! We’re listening.

Snow Days

Snow Day

Before the days of the internet, we remember listening to local radio on snowy mornings to find out about school cancellations and delays. You really had to time it well, though, because the names of the schools were read in alphabetical order, and if you happened to tune in just past your school’s spot in the ABC’s, you’d need to keep listening until the alphabet ran full circle to that particular letter. To this day, whenever we hear certain local ad jingles, it takes us right back to those snowy winter mornings and that special anticipation that if we were lucky, we just might get an unexpected day off from school.

Perhaps that’s why we’re big fans of local radio. We’re proud to bring you a brand new show every Saturday morning, and each time we show up at the Times Building in downtown Scranton to take over the airwaves, we feel like we’re part of something really special. If you haven’t yet tuned in, join us this Saturday at 9 AM. You can find us on the dial at 96.1 & 100.1FM or at 630 & 1240AM. If you miss the broadcast, listen online to the podcast of the show. We also post links to each week’s podcast on Facebook, Twitter & Google+.

True Colors

Color

Whether it’s a dignified navy blue or a cheerful hue of pink, we get to wear a new color every issue. Ever wonder how our cover colors are chosen?

We do our best to sport tones in keeping with the season; you’ve probably noticed that we’re red for Valentine’s Day, green for St. Pat’s and orange & black for Halloween. And for the many weeks that don’t include a holiday, we try to vary the cover colors as much as we can from week to week so that it’s easy to tell when a new issue replaces the previous week’s on stands. For example, we’re red this week, we were dark orange last week and purple the week before.

If you Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter or Google+, you’ll find that we post the week’s cover color bright and early every Monday morning to give you a jump on finding the brand new issue.
