FAQ: Why aren’t there online pictures for every ad?

Question mark

Questions. We love ‘em. When somebody has a question for us here at Paper Shop, we know that they’re either already advertising with us or thinking of giving us a try. We’re happy to help with and all inquiries, and we’ve found that a number of them are, well, frequently asked questions. Here’s where we take some time to talk about them.

This is a surprisingly common question, and though the answer might seem evident, there are a number of reasons why many of the online ads don’t include photos of the item. And, no, it’s not because only certain ads are eligible. Or because there’s a charge for posting a photo. In fact, we welcome photos for every single ad that’s placed, and it’s always, always free to do.

The most common reason for a dearth of photos is that the advertiser is either not comfortable using the internet or that they don’t feel a photo would enhance the appeal of the item (a good example of this might be, say, a hammer or a pallet of bricks). In other cases, the seller might assume that the item will sell quickly enough on its own merits that a photo isn’t necessary (oftentimes they’re right).

It never hurts, however, to ask for a photo of an item you’re interested in; even if the seller isn’t particularly internet-savvy, once they know they’ve got an interested party for the item, they may well commandeer a friend or family member to help get the photos to you via email.

Tip: Finding Online Photos

photoguy

It’s finally happened. You knew the day would come. You’ve found yourself face-to-face with an ad that says “See Picture Online”.

First off, don’t panic. Secondly, go directly to thepapershop.com. You’ve got the chance to check out that item that interests you.

Sure, we’re exaggerating a bit, but it really is exciting to be able to check out photos of interesting items. And it’s easy (and free!) to do, too: simply type the phone number from the ad into the search field on thepapershop.com using dashes (like this: xxx-xxx-xxxx) and you’ll be able to pull up that particular ad easily and efficiently.

Get The Picture?

PeanutButter

Hey! You got your photo in my commission ad!

No, you got your commission ad in my photo!

It brings to mind that old peanut butter cup commercial; we’re also able to put together two things that are pretty great on their own but together make something that’s simply amazing.

Folks, we bring you the Commission Photo ad. *flourish of trumpets*

If you’ve got a photo of that item you’re selling on commission, we can run it in three consecutive issues for just $8. Like any other ad, the commission on the item would be due once it sells, but the $8 fee gets that picture into print and in front of over 66,000 weekly readers.

Some restrictions do apply, so give us a call and ask us how to get your photo published: 1-800-537-9377.

FAQ: Can I post pictures of my item online?

Question mark

Questions. We love ‘em. When somebody has a question for us here at Paper Shop, we know that they’re either already advertising with us or thinking of giving us a try. We’re happy to help with and all inquiries, and we’ve found that a number of them are, well, frequently asked questions. Here’s where we take some time to talk about them.

A commission ad might run to thirty words, but what would you say if we offered you the chance at four thousand words? For free? After all, they say a picture’s worth a thousand words; since we offer up to four photos with every ad, you’ve got the chance to get pretty wordy.

When you place your ad on thepapershop.com, you can attach pictures right along with the ad text. Even if the ad’s already running, you can use “Change or Correct an Ad” (find it at the bottom of the page) to add photos after the fact or even change the ones that you currently have posted. Add or change photos at any time, and if you run into difficulty or even just have questions, feel free to give us a buzz. We’ll be happy to help you get your ad picture perfect.

The Classics

Corvette

Cars, that is.

If you’re a lover of the vintage & the antique, we’re willing to bet you’re a frequent reader of our Antique Autos & Parts category. From a 1923 Ford Model T pickup to a 1976 Corvette Stingray, we’ve got a pretty impressive selection of classic cars, all for sale.

While we do love taking a peek at any photos that are submitted for these rides, we’re no car show judges. Because of this, we’ve got a pretty standard rule to determine whether a car goes into the Antique Autos category or into Domestic or Foreign Autos: if the car is 25 years old or older, it’s an antique*.

*Never fear! We don’t hold people to the same standard. Why, if you’re 25 or older, we think you’re just coming into your prime. After all, at 44 years, we certainly are!

FAQ: How can I share pictures of my item?

Question mark

Questions. We love ‘em. When somebody has a question for us here at Paper Shop, we know that they’re either already advertising with us or thinking of giving us a try. We’re happy to help with and all inquiries, and we’ve found that a number of them are, well, frequently asked questions. Here’s where we take some time to talk about them.

You can paint a pretty or a bleak one. Sometimes you just need to look at the big one. They’re worth a thousand words. We are, of course, talking about pictures. You’ve probably shopped online, so you know how very helpful a picture can be when you’re in the market to buy something.

When you advertise with us, you can post up to four pictures of each item that you’re selling on thepapershop.com. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a commission ad, a pre-paid commission ad, or a pre-paid ad; every ad is entitled to those 4 free photos. And when there are online pictures for your item, we put “See Picture Online” in the print version of the ad so that people who see your item in our book will know that they can look online to check your item out.

You can attach your photos when you’re placing your ad online, or you can use “Change or Correct Ad” to put them in later. Don’t forget that you’re more than welcome to update or change those pictures whenever you wish!

Oh – the web we weave!

web

Because, really … who couldn’t use a little instant gratification? Nobody, that’s who. And that’s why we make sure that every single ad we’ve got is available to you on the web.

If you’ve taken a gander at thepapershop.com, you probably noticed that we put all of the ad information – including photos – out there for anyone to see. We do that so people can easily browse, compare prices and check out any pictures of items for sale. You’ve likely also noticed that the online ads don’t include contact information … unless, of course, you have an online subscription.

You can purchase an online subscription for as little as $2 a week. And once you do, every single phone number in every single ad will be immediately available to you. Because we upload every ad to the site within 30 minutes, you’ll get first crack at any new ads well before they go into print.

Take Cover!

Online-Photos

Cover ads: easy, breezy, beautiful! Well, sort of. We can assure that it’s easy. And we’ll do our best to make it beautiful. We’ll leave the breezy part up to you.

You’ll often see car dealerships, special events and the occasional Shout Out on our covers, but did you know that you could get your own ad on our cover? Whether it’s an item that you’re selling privately or a new business that you’re launching, we’re happy to put your photo, text or company logo front and center.

Call us at 1-800-537-9377 when you’re ready for your closeup. We’ll be happy to discuss fees and front cover availability!

Spellbound

Words

You might not love spelling, but we do! We also have an extreme affection for correct grammar (but that’s a post for another day).

When you’re placing an ad with us on thepapershop.com, don’t sweat the small stuff … and certainly don’t sweat the spelling. If you’re not sure how to spell something, just give it your best shot. Nine times out of ten, we’ll know exactly where you’re going with it; if for some reason we’re not sure, we’ll give you a call to make sure we’ve got it right.

It’s important for people to realize that when an ad is placed on our website, it’s not simply being sent off into some sort of internet black hole. Every ad you place comes to one of our customer service reps. We make sure that everything’s in order: we check the spelling, make sure the ad is easy for readers to understand, ensure that any attached photos aren’t upside-down, and confirm that it’s set to appear in the correct category.

Give me land, lots of land …

land

Sure!

Lots of starry skies above? Absolutely!

Whether it’s a Poconos hunting cabin complete with wooded acreage or a suburban building lot, we’ve got it. Check out our Real Estate category, or even create an advanced search on thepapershop.com to narrow down the ads to include specific things you’re looking for: wooded, rural, riverfront, whatever!

You’ll find that a number of the ads also include online photos. Advertisers can post up to four pictures with every ad at no charge, and images are especially helpful when it’s real estate for sale.

We’ve got the land for sale. The floor plans are up to you.
